Rooom 1-3

On Monday Room 1-3 travelled to Rotokare to extend our inquiry about wetlands. Our day involved a guided walk with Georgina and classroom activities with Cassie. A big thank you to Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust and to all the parents that helped on our trip.

Room 4 and 5 enjoyed their trip on Wednesday to Lake Rotokare.

Our trip began with a safety and biosecurity briefing, our classes has to look for holes in the fence. If a hole is large enough to fit your pinky finger through it, a baby mouse could get in and cause problems in the environment. Our class found a hole this size and helped repair the fence before our trip began. During the trip we walked part of the lake and we got to see signets, hi hi, whitehead, kereru, and more. We also enjoyed learning in the classroom and checking out all of the cool resources they had, like a moa skeleton and taxidermy pests. We completed water quality testing in the wetlands.
