What is in it for you?
Three main activities will be be organised. These web pages here will be the meeting place for the activities. All activities are based around the upcoming Olympic Games being held soon.

Activity One.
A scavenger hunt. Using two web sites, ( linked from this site) I will post 3 research style questions on the My Scavenger Hunt Pages to get the event happening.
This is for the first week.
During the first week schools participating, that's you, will visit the sites. While you are at the sites trying to answer my initial questions you also need to devise one of your own. (three in total, over the three weeks) . Then you email me your question, with the answer please.

All emails sent to me need to have the answers attached to the email.

I post your questions on the "Your Scavenger Hunt" page. Then everyone visits this page and does their best to answer the questions using the web sites information.
When you have answered a question you attach it to your email and send the answer to me.( Please use microsoft word if at all possible and make very clear who you are!)

I "mark" the answers and award medals.
Each week medals will be awarded for the answering of the questions posted for that week.

Each week your groups medal tally will be available on the medal tally page.

Find about how medals are awarded for your work.

Lastly, many examples of good work will be posted on these pages, likely on the Who is Playing Pages! I would hope to get a minimum of one sample of work from each group up on these pages. If you want you could email a photo of your class, or group and I could put it up too.

Activity Two
Using any paint or graphics program design a mascot for the Olympic Games imagining it was being held in NZ. Include with your finished design a written explanation identifying the characteristics of the design. Explain what your thinking is and how your mascot fits NZ hosting the Olympic Games.

Activity Three
Keep an ongoing tally of the 10 leading nations winning medals. It needs to be prepared using a spreadsheet. The reason for it being ongoing, probably daily, is that I will ask for it to be sent with only 24 hours notice!! So each day add to your spreadsheet and send it in when asked! Yes make a chart out of it too.

Summary
Three activities:
One art based.
One loosely mathematics based.
One research reading based.
Medals awarded across the entries.
Examples of answers also posted on this web site.
Level of input may be whole class, or just a group.
