Dear Parents and Friends of the School

Greetings

Shannon O’Brien
We all welcome Shannon O’Brien to Toko School!! Shannon is our new Deputy Principal and teacher in Room 5! WELCOME!

Parent Interviews
We have Parent Interviews for children at mid year. These are three way interviews which last 20 minutes. The dates set aside for teacher, parent, student interviews for children in Years 4,5,6,7and 8 are:
Monday the 21st of June and Tuesday the 22nd of June.

On the table on the next page please write your family name in the time slot of your choice. We will do our best to coordinate times for parents so that you can go from one class to another. However, this requires everyone to stay on time. If 20 minutes is not enough time to discuss progress and achievement please organise another time to meet with the teacher. Going over time just mucks up the next interview.

Children will be taking home their mid year report prior to the interviews so you can have a good read of it. We want children to be actively involved in the interview. They will start the interview by sharing examples of their learning. Achievement and progress discussion will follow, finishing with goal setting for the second half of the year!

Children in Years 1, 2, and 3 are involved in a different timetable, as described in the last newsletter. Your teachers will be contacting you regarding the times for interviews.

24th of June and 25th of June
We have been studying the kiwi. Our Predator Tunnels have been highly motivating !!!!
We have organised a day out to Lake Rotokare on the 24th and 25th of June for Rooms 2, 3 and 5. The purpose of the visit is to see a predator free area and further our understanding by working with the new Education Officer down there. Pop these dates in your diary! We will likely take a bus. Details to follow! Parents warmly invited to attend!

Regards

Richard Bradley and the Toko School team
