Welcome
to term 4. I spent the first week of the holidays at the ULEARN conference
in Christchurch.
Here's a link to the website!
Holiday fun with
words.. This is good! Its called fowl words....
Information for Room 5 mums and dads
A busy start to the term. We had Gordon Hall the Story Teller at
school on Friday the 13th. He did a great job entertaining and informing!
He ran a neat workshop after the school event with the children from
year
4 and up.
We had all the children making their entries for the Hall of Creativity
competitions! Sand saucers, miniature gardens, vegetable creations and
aqua jars. They
all looked fantastic in the Hall. There are a million photos on the school
inrAnet.
What's big also at the moment is the IT upgrade. We've
had three men working at school with cables for miles. We will be very
smart after
all this.
A reminder that the ministry of Education is paying for three quarters
of the total cost of this upgrade so a bargain!
Schools been back one week! We had a magnificent Calf and Lamb day at
Toko on Saturday the 14th of October. WOW factor really. Makes me feel
very proud to be part of this learning community. So many people have
put in so much effort to make the day such a success for so many! Approx
$6000 raised! Highlights of the day... team work and lots and
lots and lots of people!
Friday the 13th.
We had two teams at the NIE quiz at Devon Intermediate on Friday night.
Both teams did pretty well and ended up in the middle of the pack!
It was a fun evening with lots of entertainment!
Behind the scenes we have an upgrade of our school infrastructure.
It is funded by the Ministry, well three quarters of it! The bill is
still to be about $10,000! Cables everywhere. The very good thing
is the high standard being set and the future proofing of the
schools information systems! Included in the deal is underground wiring,
UPS Server, 8 jacks per room and 8 new plugs as well. All to industry
standard! Roll on completion!
Teacher only day on Tuesday the 24th
of October

BIG BIG WEEKEND 11th and 12th of November
The BOT interviewed applicant on Saturday for the 2007 school year...
Great results too! Will be able to spill the beans soon!
Saturday night
the BOT, Fundraising Committee PTA and Staff all went out for a fun night.
Big
thanks to the
PTA for
a great
night enjoyed by all I am sure... no photos!
Back t school we are all preeparing for the Athletics sports, play productions
are big too with sons, dances, lines backdrops and the list goes on!
I have put together the last online game as part of the ICTPD contact!!
With plenty of help form Rachel J ICTPD facilitator!
Check
it out Should be lots of fun actually... a daily mystery starting
on Monday the 13th! Cool!
Tuesday the 14th
Reagan and Emily and Joanne did us proud at the Taranaki Debating Finals
held on Tuesday night. Sadly they fell short of the major prize, that
going to the visitors Ngaere School.
Preparation for Athletics Sports has been majorly disrupted by the
atrocious weather conditions we have experienced lately.
This week
the Dr Schmooze game has been going well. I have received a lot of
positive feedback and it has been rather enjoyable. This is
the second week, well three more daily mysteries to crack!!!
New Teachers
Mr Scott Johnson will be teaching in Year 7 and 8
Mrs Charlain Spencer ahs
been emplyed as a permanent teacher as of 2007 teaching year 4 and 5
Ms Teressa Jones will be in a fixed term position in 2007 in year 3
Wonderful new teachers for Toko School. However,
it is very sad that Mrs Savage has resigned. She is an excellent teacher
and I personally enjoy working with ehr very much as we have a lot in
common in our classroom practice... I wish Heather well and hope that
she is able to return to Toko School some time in the future!
A special mention to Nicole who was placed 5th in the Rotary Speech
competition. She did a wonderful job and it was easily a personal best.
Excelletn!
Thursday the 23rd
Athletics Sports cancelled Monday Tuesday and then
on Wednesday morning we woke to rain! It was a tough call as I was
very
tempted to
have the
day (at about 7.30am) But by 9.30 it was raining at Toko and did
so for at least an hour! NO fun with the 400 children that would have
been
here
on the day! This will mean a complete cancelation of the event. The
first time in the 10 years I have been principal.
Play preparations are continuing (obviously) but this Thursday and
Friday will be our first whole school, and in fact whole class look
at the
play Conundrum.
13.12.06
Trouble with this time of year is that it just tumbles forward at a great
rate of knots!
BOT meeting on Tuesday the 12th where budget was passed and few other
biggies too!
Today we had the schools concert and this went very well actually. An
excellent concert with some stand outs!! Quip!
Clearly had some difficulty keeping up with the web events calendar
this term!
Had the last facilitation meeting of the ICTPD cluster the other morning!
The last three years has been an excellent opportuntiy for the ICTPD
cluster! Sorry to see it go... but we did well out of it and took all
the opportunities that were presented! Big thanks to Rachel J the facilitator
who I believe did an excellent job over the last three years.
I'm the newly "elected" President of the
CTELA! Well I think I can make a positive difference! Hope so! Wont to
breathe some life back into a very positive organisation!
18th December
Well we had three neat concerts last week! The finale was grand with
an absolutely packed hall and great audience and pretty much superb
cast!! Very pleased and proud as are all the staff! Last day for kids at
school tomorrow! WOWThere will be the Year 8 farewell and all the usual
fun and games!
Tomorrow we have a TO day with staff planning the term ahead!!
