Welcome to term 3... Check above for previous terms.
A pretty busy holiday period really. The school has been painted... but not finished!!! In the process the roof of the main block has developed a few extra problems and the most likely scenario at this point is a replacement of the roof!

The back room of the hall has had a major face lift!!Stripped, insulated lined, painted and heated!!
Shelving to arrive this week I hope! Lastly heating in the Hall has also been improved with two new heaters. One was also put in Room 2 and hopefully the library heater has been fixed too!!!
Roll on term 3! Check out the calendar. It would not have been a time to head away...as you can see too much stuff going on!
Hey we had a great cabaret of Saturday night. Well done Fundraising committee. A neat night out had by all!

Thursday he 3rd of August
Phew so much going on and so little time!!
I guess the highlights of the last three weeks are:
Debating day at Toko on Monday the 31st. Rawhitiroa, Ngaere, Pembroke, Midhirst and Toko combined for a very good morning of debating.
Toko v Matapu Netabll. Toko win well away at Matapu 33 7 I think.
Toko v Kaponga combined. Games held at Toko and both the boys and the girls end up with a win. Both neat games and both coaches very proud of their teams efforts. Girls won 25 to 14 and boys won at the end of the first half 30 nil. Second half a friendly with teams combining.
Another highlight is the completion of the Herald Newspaper entry! Well done Heather and team to get this to the point of excellence! We can but hope! It will be sent to Auckland after printing and pasting... another job!

BOT meeting Wednesday the 26th of July. Big meeting property wise. We all agreed to replace roof and complete work on our bottom field. Seems that there is simply not enough top soil available to grow good grass.
At school over the last three weeks the painting has continued! Slowly getting there with a long way still to go.

Sunday the 13th
Last week the boys rugby lost to Auroa School but the girls won, 25 5. A good fun day had by all. Although apparently very windy!!

Friday the 18th
Toko School was in the semi final of the Taranaki Year 8 debating team competition. We won in a very narrow victory over Oakura. So we are in the final and I believe it is against our good friends Ngaere School!
Many thanks to Lynette for helping get the team up to scratch!
We had a neat assembly on Friday the 11th with each class presenting a musical item. For the last three weeks all classes have been involved in a musical unit in their own rooms and this was the performance aspect of the unit! Loads of parents at school so thanks very much for coming along and supporting. All classses did very well I feel and such a huge variety! Maori songs, Egyptian, recorders and untuned percussions, bells .. the lot! The only thing missing was a musical item by the teachers!

New Library roof put on on Saturday the19th of August! Still awaiting a fine enough weekend to tackle the main block!

28th of August!
OK I have finished my three weeks in the classroom so now need to think back at all the school news! There as a successful digital art unit! Cross school focus has really been preparing for the NZ Speech Board exams which are being held at school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 28th.29th and 30th of August. These involve all children form year 3 up and are a large commitment by all involved.

Girls netball. The girls got to the semi finals this year and then lost their game to Kaimiro Ratapiko! But a good game and our girls have clearly done well. Big thanks to all coaches!!

Newsletter dated 24th August.

Friday the 25th of August we had the Covenant Players visit school again. These guys dramatize real life events and have big messages for the children.

We've been training for the Rawhitiroa Cross Country coming up quickly plus training of the fun run organsied by Kelly for the September the 1st!

Basically the school painting was completed on Friday the 28th of August....

Now it is the fields turn. A fairly major undertaking to even the field up with the new cricket pitch. We are getting cored, and then more top soil, seed and of course fertilizer spread over the fields to bring them 'up to scratch'.. actually it will be far more than up to scratch! A big job for Gavin so thanks Gavin. Schedule planned is Saturday the 2nd the matting is getting laid on the concrete strip and Monday the 4th the additional ready made lawn will be laid around the wicket it self! Anyone for cricket!

13th of September
Kids had fun in the sun learning volleyball skills today. Two more sessions planned. Neat fun!
well the term is coming to an end rapidly.

22nd of September
Kids did well at rawhitiroa and at the Taranaki Cross Country Champs. Two top 10 finishes! David 6th and reaan 9th Excellent work. Personal best awards!

Kahikatea house won the house awards by one point!!!

Last minute treat... The Taranaki rescue Helicopter landed on the school field and the kids had an awesome time with the team!

WOW term 4!
