Welcome to the events page for 2004. This is a log of the events which
occur at school over the year. It is in chronological order. Beginning
of the year at the top, later in the year, down the bottom!
27.1.2004
Welcome back everyone! All the kids have arrived back safe and well. This school
roll seems to be starting at 92. A little down on previous years.
Whats big at the beginning of the year. What about new laptoips for staff.
Now all teaching staff have their own school laptop! These purchases have been
made possible through the WITT computer class fundraising. Out of this money
we have purchased: 2 laptops for staff, one digital video camera with stand,
and a server tape drive to ensure the safety of all school data and the associated
tapes. (In fact a hardrive failure during the holidays
occured and all school data was safe due to the timely purchase of the back
up tapedrive.)
9th of February Bike Safety Week
We've got
the Police Youth Officer at school on Tuesday. All sorts of bike safety
points will be covered. All classes will be involved. All children will
hopefully have their bikes at school! Bikes can stay for the week and
lunch time courses will be set up. Great fun!
11th February
Family Pool Day at the Aquatic
Centre.
This was a great day. In addition to talking, swimming diving, lounging and
hydrosliding in the pools, the senior class had their bikes ready for a waterfront
tour. Many thanks to Aitkens Transport for
transporting all the bikes to and from New Plymouth. We rode along to the river
and back! It was great and something we should do again.
Parent
interviews 10th and
12th
These occurred on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. The idea here
was for new child/parent combinations teachers meet with parents and
discuss key points of the childrens previous learning and for the teacher
to outline the key components of the new classrom program. It is also
a good opportunity to clarify the NZSB exams scheduled for the end
of term one.
Camp Meeting Friday the 13th
Thanks for coming along to this meeting and
if you missed it here are some key points.
The camp will be in the North Island. We did some research re South island
and the cost is just too much.
Costs were discussed. It has been $200 since 1997. This year we are talking
approx $250!
Only one box of chocolate goes to the camp fund.
Discussion re fundraising... Lots of good ideas and a fundraising 'subcommittee'
is up and running. Good ideas tossed around. Basically this year you need to
be involved in the fundraising to reap the benefit!
