NZ Speech Board Exams
A MAJOR school wide focus. The actual exams are scheduled for Week 8

Preparation any less than 4 weeks leaves the children under prepared ..However, be careful not to memorize the content. It is a fine line between the two.

We completed this in 2004, and 2005 and 2006 and 2007. I believe this has had very positive results with children's oral language developing and their confidence developing too.

Please note that staff have a new syllabus and this should be read !! A very clear link with the school charter outlining oral language as the basis of all other learning! We are maintaining this initiative in 2007 at a cost of over $2000 and hope have received EDI funds to ensure the continuation.
Children are involved in preparation for a full four weeks to allow them the time needed to be successful.

Year 5 and 6 more like two weeks.

We enter into the group investigations for Year 7 and 8 rather than other areas as I believe it develops a cooperative atmosphere in the classroom however could be a good individual project for keen kids to complete at home..
